F1® 22 - Driver Ratings Update
The Hungarian Grand Prix marked the sport’s summer break and a perfect time to update F1® 22’s driver ratings

The Hungarian Grand Prix marked the sport’s summer break and a perfect time to update F1® 22’s driver ratings. Once more, David Croft, Alex Jacques, and Anthony Davidson have lent us their expertise to look beyond the algorithms and tweak the ratings to better reflect individual driver performance.
Compare and contrast today’s ratings reveal in more depth in our online database here.
As a reminder, here is how each category is determined:
- Experience: The number of race starts a driver has over the course of their career.
- Racecraft: The driver’s ability to work their way through the pack and finish in a higher position than where they started.
- Awareness: The less time spent in the steward’s room will help drivers here. Real-world punishments will impact the score in this category.
- Pace: Benefits those who get closest to the fastest qualifying and race lap times. A driver beating their teammate is also taken into consideration.
- Rating: The combination of the previous four ratings. This overall rating will go up and down throughout the season based on performance.
Let’s get into some of the notable rating changes from Monaco to Hungary:
Mick Schumacher – Haas F1 Team
Stunning performances in Silverstone and Austria, which include scoring the first F1® points of his career, have seen Schumacher’s stats soar. Starting 19th in Silverstone, fighting his way through the field to finish eighth ahead of experienced teammate Kevin Magnussen, has helped increase his Racecraft by five and Awareness and Overall by two.
Zhou Guanyu – Alfa Romeo F1 Team ORLEN
After a successful start to the season for Zhou, this year’s only rookie has suffered race retirements in Baku and Britain, notably in the latter after a dramatic first-corner crash. However a strong drive and his second career points finish of the season in Canada has seen his Experience, Pace, and Overall Ratings rise, as he continues to establish himself in his rookie season.
George Russell – Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 Team
Despite this being George’s first season at Mercedes, he’s wasted no time proving he deserves his seat alongside seven-time World Champion Lewis Hamilton. In the six races included in our ratings, Russell has stepped onto the podium in three, finished ahead of his teammate in two, and secured his maiden pole position in Hungary. These performances mean Russell’s Racecraft increases by four, and his Pace and Overall Rating by two each, meaning he’s now the third highest rated driver on the grid.
Championship Contenders
It’s been a display of dominance for Max Verstappen, winning four of the six races included in today’s update. His string of solid results has meant his Awareness has gone up by two, with Pace and Overall Rating rising by one, making Max the outright highest rated driver on 95.
Since the Monaco Grand Prix, second-placed Leclerc has only stood on the podium once, with a victory in Austria, and he’s finished behind his teammate in four of the six races. With his championship bid slowing, his Awareness has dropped by one, Pace by three, and his Overall Rating by one.
These are just a selection of our brand-new driver ratings up to and including the Hungarian Grand Prix – make sure you’re following us on Twitter, Instagram, TikTok and the official YouTube channel for all of our updates.
