Blaise Matuidi helped Paris Saint-Germain extend their lead atop the Ligue 1 Table after scoring the match winner in their 1:2 victory over AC Ajaccio on Saturday. The Frenchman, more traditionally known as a playmaker rather than a goal-scorer, now has three goals this season.
Villareal absolutely crushed Real Sociedad 5:1 on Monday night to stay in the hunt for a place in Europe this fall. Two of the club’s five goals were scored by the Mexican Giovani dos Santos, who also assisted on two others. In sixteen league matches this season, dos Santos has eight goals and five assists.
After suffering their first loss of the season a week ago, AS Roma returned to a winning form Sunday, defeating Genoa 4:0. Four different players scored for the capital side, including defender Maicon, who notched his second goal since joining the club last July.
