Getting Started in VOLTA FOOTBALL

VOLTA FOOTBALL is back for a second season in FIFA 21 with new ways to play and customise in more locations and with more gear to express your style to the world.

Here are some tips and tricks for starting your street journey in VOLTA FOOTBALL.

What is VOLTA FOOTBALL?

VOLTA FOOTBALL lets you experience authentic street football and show off your style in cages and courts around the world.

Street football is all about personality. To get the ball rolling, you need to create a VOLTA AVATAR as unique as you are. 

Build your player, pick your gear, express your style

Bring football and fashion together - start off by customising and personalise your male or female VOLTA AVATAR. Choose their height, facial features, tattoos, hairstyle, playing position, home court and more, then pick your gear.

You can unlock fresh gear throughout the season by completing Ladders - in-game objectives visible from the Gear Up menu which reward you with new apparel for your player, or you can use the VOLTA COINS you earn by playing matches in-game to unlock the same gear. With a vast array of new apparel from adidas, professional football clubs, street football teams, and celebrity-designed collections there are countless looks and ways to create your own one of a kind player as you express your style in VOLTA FOOTBALL.

You can even customise your squad members’ individual looks to make sure each member of your squad hits the pich looking fresh.

Upgrading your Avatar and building your squad

Playing matches with your Avatar will earn you experience and skill points that you can use to upgrade your player’s abilities. Winning matches in FEATURED BATTLES will also help you to build your squad’s rating by recruiting higher-rated players from opposing teams, as well as letting you improve your team’s chemistry by playing players in their preferred position, formation, and linking them with other players from the same home court.

Apply the skill points you’ve earned from matches by heading to the Skill Tree in the Team menu, then choose the attributes you want to upgrade.

Before you start a match, make sure to choose your team’s formations and starting lineups from the “My Squad” screen in the Team menu. The higher your team’s chemistry, the more your starting lineup’s attributes will be boosted and the better they’ll play on the pitch.

Gameplay

Playing on the street is a bit different to the 11 v 11 game played under the spotlight of the stadium.

Make sure to use the environment to your advantage by using the walls to go past opponents or pass to teammates, and creating inventive ways to assist yourself with simplified skill moves (hold down L1/LB to trigger). And it wouldn’t be street football without the megs… The new Nutmeg control allows players to launch the ball in a specific direction using the right stick (Hold L1 + R1 or Hold LB + RB and flick RS to where you want the ball to go), giving you a chance of the ultimate humiliation of putting the ball through a defender's legs.

Lastly, when you find the back of the net you’re going to want to make a scene with a number of special celebrations, unique to VOLTA FOOTBALL...

Find the right mode for you

Whether you want to play online against other players, or against the AI, you can earn experience for your Avatar in each of VOLTA FOOTBALL’s modes:

VOLTA SQUADS

Squad up with your mates, play solo, or drop in with other players in the VOLTA FOOTBALL community in online 5v5 against other SQUADS from around the world. Rank up by playing and winning matches as you work through the divisions on the way to the top and earn limited-time unique rewards for each rank you reach within each event.

FEATURED BATTLES

Take on other players’ teams in FEATURED BATTLES in a first to five goals match against the AI and earn Battle Points on the way to taking on Featured Matches. Beating other squads will also give you the chance to recruit another player from the opposing team to improve your squad’s rating and chemistry.

Up the difficulty level to earn more Battle Points on the way to the Featured Match against huge names from the world of football, music, fashion, and beyond. Winning those Featured Matches against VOLTA GROUNDBREAKERS will enable you to recruit stars to your squad, and play as them throughout VOLTA FOOTBALL’s modes.

The Debut

THE DEBUT introduces you to the world of street football. Choose your path through a narrative-based story featuring Brazil legend Kaká and street football icon Lisa Zimouche as you learn the basics via matches and training drills, see the world and take on the best of the best, and become a champion in the Streets & Icons tournament in the all new Dubai Stadium. 

Kick-Off

In Kick-Off mode, you can face off with your favourite professional teams in any of VOLTA FOOTBALL’s 23 locations and play various forms of small-sided football both with and without goalkeepers.
