Fair Play For All

As we head into launch week and kick off a new season of FIFA 20 we know everyone is keen to get started, so we want to take a moment to talk about the importance of playing fair in FIFA Ultimate Team, especially when it comes to using FUT Coins.

You can earn FUT Coins by playing matches throughout Single Player and Online modes in FUT, like FUT Champions, Division Rivals, FUT Friendlies, and Squad Battles. You can also obtain them by completing certain Squad Building Challenges, some Objectives, or selling Players, Kits, Badges, Stadiums and other Items from your Club with other members of the FUT Community on the in-game Transfer Market.

Whether you earn your FUT Coins by playing matches or by selling Items on the Transfer Market, and whether you use your FUT Coins to acquire Packs directly or items on the Transfer Market, they are an important part of the squad-building journey in FUT. Because ensuring that these strategic parts of the game are fair for all is really important to us, we want to make sure you’re aware of the dangers of trying to get ahead by buying, exchanging or sharing Coins.

Outside of EA, unauthorised coin sellers, (sometimes referred to as ‘third parties’ or ‘secondary markets’) look to exploit our game by selling coins. No matter how official these sites might look, these sites are NOT legitimate, and it is against the rules of the game to engage with them. It’s not just selling coins that’s against EA’s rules, since there is no functionality in the game to give coins to another player, buying them is too. Giving FUT Coins out as a giveaway, or receiving FUT Coins from a giveaway is also not allowed, and neither is giving FUT Coins to others, or receiving FUT Coins from another user.

These are all forms of coin distribution and buying FUT Coins from third parties or via secondary markets in particular can have a serious impact on both your and others’ enjoyment of FUT, creating an uneven playing field. It’s cheating and in some parts of the world engaging in these activities may also violate the law. 

Three key reasons why we don’t tolerate coin distribution in FUT:

• It puts your FUT Club and Account Information at risk of being taken over by bad actors or stolen by phishers.

Handing over your account details to a third party puts your Club and account at serious risk of being compromised. Giving other people access to your account also gives them access to sell your Players for a profit, take away your Coins, and more from your Club. Sharing your account information with anyone in exchange for Coins is against our rules.

• It Negatively Impacts The Transfer Market For Everyone.

Buying Coins from Third Party Sellers or so called ‘secondary markets’ has serious effects on the enjoyment of others playing the game legitimately. Often Coins are stolen from other users to be sold on, or farmed through systems, and these illicit activities can have a negative impact on the stability of the gameplay experience for everyone else. Trying to get ahead in this way also fundamentally unbalances the Transfer Market, impacting on everyone using it and can make rare items or Players unattainable for those who are playing fairly. 

• It’s cheating.

We know millions of you invest significant time, effort and pride into building your squad through playing FIFA, acquiring items in FUT, and engaging in the transfer market. Using coin distribution to achieve an unfair advantage is cheating. It’s not only against the rules of our game, it’s against the fundamental values of any sport. Taking avenues outside the rules negatively impacts the whole game for everyone.

What are the consequences of using Third Party Sellers?

Breaking the rules can result in one or more of the following:

• Removing your account from FUT Champions leaderboards
• Removing your FUT Champions rewards
• Removing your FUT Coins
• Deletion of your FUT Club
• Temporarily or permanently banning your account from FIFA online play, which means you lose access to every mode where you connect to our servers. Examples of FIFA online play are (but not limited to) FIFA Pro Clubs, FUT Squad Battles, or VOLTA FOOTBALL.
• Banning your account from your current FIFA game
• Banning your account from all FIFA games
• Banning you from all EA games
• Suspending your console from playing FIFA online modes for a period of time
• Restricting your access in other ways

How do I follow the EA Rules?

• Earn FUT Coins or trade Player Items for a fair amount of FUT Coins. Don’t buy FUT Coins or engage in any type of Coin distribution to or from your account.
