Gridiron Notes: Reward Structures in Madden Ultimate Team
A breakdown on Rewards Structures coming to Madden Ultimate Team (i.e. Solo Battles, MUT Drafts and Head to Head Seasons)

KRAELO (aka Agent K) here! Welcome back to another installment of Madden 20's Gridiron Notes. For those that are new to Gridiron Notes, Gridiron Notes is where we keep you up-to-date with the latest Madden 20 news. Our goal with this series is to provide you with deeper insight into our game and update you when we have new and relevant information to share about Madden 20.
Today, our goal is to provide you some details on the Reward Structures in Madden Ultimate Team for the following modes:
- Solo Battles
- MUT Drafts
- Head to Head Seasons
So, without further ado, let’s get into the details about these new rewards structures. Enjoy!
SOLO BATTLES
Solo Battles are back for Madden 20, and it is a great mode to earn some awesome rewards. Here are some tips on how to engage with Solo Battles in Madden Ultimate Team courtesy of AdRobs.
Play Throughout the Week or Catch Ls
The mode requires you to log in during three periods throughout the week:
Period 1: Monday 10:30 AM — Wednesday at 10:29 AM
Period 2: Wednesday 10:30 AM — Friday at 10:29 AM
Period 3: Friday at 10:30 AM — Monday at 8:30 AM
***All times are based on the Eastern (ET) Time Zone***
At 10:30 AM on the first day of each of the above periods, a “refresh opponents” option will become available. There will be 4 opponents per refresh period and an additional “featured opponent” available throughout the week. This makes for a total of 13 opponents.
The way this plays out gets a little confusing, so try to pay close attention.
- You must log in during a refresh period to access that slate of four opponents (i.e. failing to log into Solo Battles (not just Ultimate Team (UT), specifically solos battles) prior to Wednesday results in 4 losses and a score of 0 for the 1st period)
- You can complete the first refresh period during the second refresh period, hit refresh, and then complete the second refresh period. (i.e. you can log in to Solo Battles (not just UT, specifically Solo Battles) on Monday, not play, come back on Wednesday, play period 1’s opponents, refresh, and make period 2’s opponents avaialable.)
- Failing to log in and refresh during a refresh period forfeits those opponents, results in 4 losses, and 0 points.
- Refreshing prior to finishing the games results in losses for the uncompleted games and a score of 0. YOU CANNOT GO BACK AFTER REFRESHING.
- Skipping a refresh period will result in losing that period. (i.e. logging in on Monday and Friday.
- The opportunity to do any of it closes on Monday at 8:30 AM.
Don’t Refresh Unless You Have Completed The Games
This is covered above in point 4 but bears repeating. If you refresh with games unplayed you will get losses for unplayed games. Only refresh if you have completed those games or you are coming to the end of a subsequent refresh period and you don’t want to lose your shot at the midweek games. (i.e. If it is Friday at 9:30 AM and you have 1 game unplayed from Period 1 and haven’t refreshed, it may be wise to refresh to avoid losing your shot at Period 2 games.)
Pick Your Difficulty Carefully
There are a variety of difficulties available that can affect the number of ranking points you receive. Winning by a small margin on a higher difficulty nets you more points than a blowout on a lower difficulty but losses are always bad. My recommendation is to start lower than you think you have to.
Don’t Quit
You can’t redo the games, quitting is the worst thing you can do. Quitting wastes a game and awards you no points. Be sure to leave yourself enough time for a 4 Quarter, 3 Minutes per quarter game or don’t start. The good news is that you can pause.

One thing to note, is that Touchdown, Redzone and Midfield packs provide you a quicksell option. If you prefer the route of guaranteed coins, you can select the quicksell option instead of the pack. Here is a quick breakdown of the quicksell options.
- Touchdown Pack has a quicksell option of 65K Quicksell
- Redzone Pack has a quicksell option of 25K Quicksell
- Mid Field Pack has a quicksell option of 9K Quicksell
MUT DRAFTS
This year for both the MUT Draft and Salary Cap modes, you will no longer be using tickets to enter events. You will have the ability to use coins for both Premium and Standard events.
