Pro Bowl Legends Reveal
Christian Okoye (Chiefs | 97 OVR | HB)
How about some love for the bruisers in the legends reveal! Okoye’s combination of size and speed at the running back position was near transcendent when he came into the league in 1987. In 1989 Okoye took 370 carries for 1,480 yards and 12 touchdowns as a Kansas City Chief and made the Pro Bowl. Sadly, knee injuries cut his career too short, but his skills are now immortalized in MUT. The 95 speed/98 trucking combination will dang near break your opponent’s brain and/or controller.
Ronde Barber (Buccaneers | 97 OVR | CB)
Given the athletic demands of the cornerback position, not many positions see so much year-to-year turnover in quality players like CB. Barber defied that standard and played 16 NFL seasons, all with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Barber and the Bucs won Super Bowl 37 in 2003 against the Rich Gannon-led Raiders. Barber and his identical twin, Tiki, are officially both represented in MUT22. I’ll give the slight edge to Ronde, as he’s coming in with a 96 speed, man and zone coverages, and a 95 press.

TJ’s Top Five: Favorite Legends
It’s been a wild ride revealing the legends each week. We’ve had some household names and some deep pulls, but all players with storied NFL careers who now have themselves impressive MUT items. Here are my five favorites.
5) Jermichael Finley (TE, 95 OVR)
Seeing Finley running around in MUT harkens back to a simpler, golden time. My Madden consciousness was berthed at the helm of tight ends such as Jermichael Finley, Vernon Davis, Chris Cooley and of course, Alge Crumpler. He only played six seasons and never caught more than 800 yards in one of them, but he was a staple in that era of football nonetheless. This item definitely does the trick. The 93 speed at TE is solid, then he boasts a robust receiving attribute group culminating in a 95 spectacular catch. As a ball carrier, the 88 carrying and 92 trucking are just begging you to get him the football.
4) Larry Csonka (FB, 91 OVR)
Keep in mind, this list is purely my favorite cards. Is this Csonka item the best FB/HB in the game? No. Does it make my fullback-loving soul happy? Absolutely. Though I definitely wasn’t alive to watch Csonka’s career, his hard-nosed yet versatile play style are unmistakable. For MUT purposes you’ve got a gem here. The 87 speed and 92 trucking from the fullback position, and his remaining a 91 OVR at HB, get the job done on the ground. As a lead blocker, his 90 run block and 90 lead block make him more than effective. Catch me outside running old school football.
3) Russell Wilson (QB, 97 OVR)
You can’t ask for anything more than this 97 OVR quarterback item. Wilson’s speed (94) and throw power (97) combo are unicorn-level stuff. The phrase “Let Russ Cook” rings out on any given Sunday and it couldn’t be any more applicable than on the MUT gridiron. The throwing attributes are all what you expect, but running the ball he’s basically a halfback. Wilson’s rocking an 81 carrying, 93 juke move and 90 break tackle.
2) Charlie Joyner (WR, 97 OVR)
This is what teams are made of. The 97 speed and 97 spectacular catch are superlative. The 95+ on each route running category is salacious. The 97 juke move and 94 break tackle are awe-inspiring. Though Joyner is barely under six feet tall, you can’t argue with these attributes.
1) Ted Hendricks (ROLB, 93 OVR)
WHAT?! Your favorite is only a 93 OVR! Under a 90 speed! What?! I know, I know. This Hendricks item is my favorite because of the time it was released. It encapsulates an incredible time in MUT. Of course, item OVRs increase as the year moves on, and relative to the MUT universe at the time of release, this Hendricks item moved the needle for me. His incredible pass rush attributes (94 PMV, 93 BSH, etc) coupled with a fantastic coverage skillset (89 SPD, 90 ZCV) give you an obvious advantage when he’s on the field. Now, add in the fact that he’s six-seven. This Hendricks item, a tribute to a true NFL OG, is a unicorn and makes my soul happy.
