Today, we are proud to announce the Barclays Premier League Team of the Season for FIFA Ultimate Team. This is our second reveal, focusing on the standout players who have made their mark during the current season.
Take away Gareth Bale’s 20 Barclays Premier League goals and Tottenham Hotspur would be a completely different squad. With Bale on the pitch, this is a club that is a thrill to watch regardless if you’re a Spurs supporter or a neutral spectator. Bale has improved in each successive season but 2012-13 was by far his greatest as he doubled his goal production from the year before. There are over a dozen clubs throughout Europe that would love to have a player like Bale and Spurs are lucky to have him on their squad.
No other player in England (let alone Europe) began the 2012-13 campaign with more pressure than Robin van Persie. Anything less than a Barclays Premier League title would have been viewed as a failure after joining Manchester United over the summer. Not only did van Persie help lead the club to their 20th league title, he is poised to finish as the league’s scoring leader, with over 25 goals to his name. While he may not match his tally from the year prior, the league trophy more than makes up for that.
Chelsea is a club built around a number of players, not relying on the production of one for success. But there are key pieces, and one is Spaniard Juan Mata. In his second season with the club, he has been significant in both scoring and setting up goals. His 18 assists are best in all the Barclays Premier League and he also scored 11 goals for the club. Although Chelsea missed out on lifting domestic silverware, another European trophy would be a fine alternative if things go according to plan on Wednesday evening.
Santi Cazorla joined Arsenal over the summer with high expectations. Thankfully, his production and play on the pitch has quickly made him a fan favorite and a threat whenever in possession of the ball. He played in all of Arsenal's Barclays Premier League matches thus far and in the process, scored 12 goals and helped set-up 13 others.
