Sul Sul Simmers!

The Sims™ team is committed to keeping you in the loop on all that’s happening across The Sims franchises as we continue to expand on opportunities for self-discovery and deeper connections. You may have caught The Sims Summit last October. Today, we say hello to Behind The Sims, a new community series that covers the latest updates, sneak peeks and deep dives into game development, including the latest on Project Rene, new content for The Sims 4, and more.

If you missed the Behind The Sims community stream hosted by Mersea from The Sims team, you can watch it below.

Here’s a recap of the latest updates for The Sims.

The Sims Team

Quick update on Project Rene

We’ve just completed our first playtest for Project Rene, the next evolution of The Sims. This means we exposed a tiny slice of the game to a small number of players to gather valuable feedback that we’ll use to refine the feature sets, art and more. This isn’t the full game and not a single thing is final.

The playtest focused on furniture customization, which gives players more control over the pattern, colors, materials, parts, shape, and size of the furniture in their apartment. We piloted a very early version of buy mode that looked into how people can copy styles quickly from their couch to their chair, or move and rotate an entire living room set at once.

This playtest also included our first social play experience where players can design an apartment together, opening up new ways to play, tell stories, and build dream creations. Project Rene is a place for you to explore life with The Sims and also share a wide variety of experiences with trusted friends, if you want, when you want. We fully recognize and embrace the fact that The Sims can be a very private, intimate escape for some people to explore things on their own. It will always be your choice whether to play on your own or with others.

All of this new content has been tested on PC and Mobile. With Project Rene, you’ll be able to play on a PC, put it down, and pick up right where you left off on a mobile device. The team is still developing ways in which we can tailor the experiences per platform, but we’re so excited about what’s to come.

This is just the start of a long journey, and we’re still years out from the launch of Project Rene. But things are moving and we’ll continue to share our progress with you!

An exciting new bundle of joy is coming to The Sims 4 on March 14

The Sims 4 is celebrating its 23rd birthday by revealing a new bundle of joy coming soon to the base game, Infants! Yes, yes, we’re finally freeing the baby. The team has been reimagining The Sims that players know and love with even more ways to play, bringing a new life stage, Infants, to Simmers on March 14.

Ding dong! Meet The Sims 4’s newest family, The Michaelsons, February 2

Families play a fundamental role in shaping who our Sims become. We teased a new expansion pack, with our newest family, The Michaelsons.

Be sure to tune in on February 2 to meet the family!

Exciting new updates for The Sims FreePlay and The Sims Mobile

We’re celebrating The Sims 23rd birthday in style by giving The Sims Mobile players a free gift — the Disco Plumbob. We’ve also planned a Treasure Hunt, an event in honor of the 5th anniversary of The Sims Mobile, which includes five awesome new anniversary-themed items that we know you’ll love. Be sure to attend the upcoming The Sims Festival, a 60-day recurring event. We’re bringing rewards inspired by Korean architecture and fashion for the game.

We realized we hadn’t updated the music in The Sims Freeplay since launch, so we asked our community which iconic songs from throughout The Sims 23-year history they’d want included. We received thousands of votes for iconic tunes from all The Sims games. The most popular tracks that we added to the game that are available now, include the themes from The Sims 2 and The Sims 3, “The Sims” from The Sims 4, and of course, “Neighborhoods,” from The Sims.

In honor of The Sims Freeplay’s 11th anniversary, we also revealed that Sims Springs is expanding with a third area to the desert map. Sims Springs is a tumbleweed town with untapped potential waiting for your Sims to build it from the ground up. Coming April 2023, Neighborhood 3 boasts more unique fixer-upper house lots to customize and make your own.

That’s it for the Behind The Sims Community Stream episode 1! Follow The Sims, The Sims Freeplay, and The Sims Mobile across social media to keep up with the latest news and information about the next Behind the Sims community stream.

We’ll have more to share soon in our next stream. Until then, Dag Dag!
