George Rogers - Senior Research Project Manager
Guildford, UK
What do you do at EA?
I work as a Senior Research Project Manager for Electronic Arts Playtesting. It's an extremely varied role that's at the core of EA's User Research Team. On a normal day, I manage our EU research project management team, visualise data to help improve our team's processes, help build our marketing strategy for the Electronic Arts Playtesting program, screen/identify participants to take part in User Research studies, and much more!
How did you start working in the gaming industry?
During my Bachelor’s degree, I worked as a Project Manager in France and Spain. This gave me experience of working in agile teams, helping me identify my core strengths. Upon graduating, I worked in the translation industry as a Project Manager, however, after seeing EA advertising for a Research Project Manager, I decided to make the most of the incredible opportunity and joined the gaming industry! I have now been at EA for just under 5 years and have loved every minute of it!
What is your favourite thing about what you do?
My role at EA is extremely varied and allows me to develop/grow in ways that I could have never imagined possible! Every day holds something new, which is massively rewarding.
Why do you think Playtesting is important?
EA is a Player First company and the Playtesting program is a testament to that! Giving our players the chance to get hands-on with our games and give feedback before release really does make a world of difference in the development process. Electronic Arts Playtesting makes sure that we never lose sight of who we make games for - you, the players.
What is your favourite game and why?
Definitely a hard question, but if I had to pick it would be the original Fable. I remember it being so far ahead of its time and really transporting me to another world! Safe to say I am hyped for the new game!
