Top 4 Playtests at Electronic Arts
Curious about what to expect if you’re selected for a Playtest? In this post, we’ll give you an insight into some of our most typical Playtests.
1-on-1 Playtests
Get an inside look at a game and talk through your experience directly with a Researcher from our team - think of it more as a chat with a friend than an interview! 1-on-1 Playtests can be for in-development prototypes, released games, and everything in between. The Researcher will ask you questions about your experiences, preferences, and other areas of interest. These conversations typically last between 30 minutes and 2 hours, and are currently happening online. We’re looking forward to doing these again in-person at our Player Experience Labs soon!
Extended Playtests
Extended Playtests collect your feedback over multiple days or weeks to help us learn how you interact with our games over a longer period of time. Sometimes, they can also include 1-on-1 touchpoints with one of our Researchers. These Playtests typically take place online.
Playtester Surveys
In every Playtest, you can expect there to be at least one survey. Through these surveys, you’ll provide feedback on various topics and subjects given by our team of Researchers. Playtester Surveys can vary in length, frequency and complexity, and typically take place online.
Community Playtests
A Community Playtest is a hands-on session, giving you exclusive access to a game from the comfort of your own home! These are generally focused on how a game performs. Games in these sessions will not contain all final launch features, content, and are work-in-progress - so you can expect a few bugs and crashes along the way. Your feedback is usually gathered through a survey after the Playtest, so be sure to stay till the end!
