Q: What is the Positive Player Award?

A:  Introduced in 2023, The Positive Player Award recognizes esports competitors with a deep commitment to fair play, who consistently show outstanding sportspersonship towards teammates, opponents, and fans, and the league while playing in the ALGS. 

 

Q: How is ‘outstanding sportspersonship’ defined?

A: Outstanding (adjective): consistently supporting the team, and being an honorable opponent.

Sportspersonship (noun): fair and generous behavior or treatment of others.

 

Q: Who can be nominated?

A: Current Apex Legends™ Global Series Year 3 Pro League players, 16 years and older can be nominated for the award.

 

Q: Who can nominate players?

A: Players and coaches of the Apex Legends™ Global Series (“ALGS”) may nominate an ALGS Pro League competitor who they feel shows outstanding sportspersonship towards teammates, opponents, the league, and fans, during the ALGS tournament Year 3.

 

Q: How do nominations work?

A: Two step process:

Step 1: Nomination Submission: 

Players and coaches participating in the Apex Legends™ Global Series can nominate an eligible ALGS competitor who they feel demonstrates the principles of the EA Positive Player Award of outstanding sportspersonship anytime from 12:00AM Pacific Time (PT) on August 2nd to 11:59PM PT on August 16th.

Step 2: Final Nominees Decided

Once nominations are received, a panel of inclusive play and esports representatives from Apex Legends and Electronic Arts will select between three (3) and ten (10) from the eligible nominations, based on the positive player award judging criteria set out in the Official Rules. At the close of nominations, we’ll post the finalists to this site on August 29th, 2024 and invite the community to vote on the player they believe best exemplifies the Electronic Arts Positive Player Award principles. 

 

Q: How does voting work?

A: On August 29th at 12:00AM PT, EA will post the finalists on https://www.ea.com/commitments/positive-play/positive-player-award/ at which time the community can vote on the finalist they feel best demonstrates the Electronic Arts Positive Player Award principles of outstanding sportspersonship towards teammates, opponents, fans, and the league while competing in the ALGS. Voting closes September 13th at 11:59PM PT.

 

Q: Who can vote?

A: Voting will be open to the public from August 29th, 2024 at 12:00AM PT to September 13th, 2024 at 11:59PM PT.  Limit one vote per person and per EA account.

 

Q: How is the winner determined?

A: Following the close of the Voting Period, the EA Judges will reconvene to evaluate the finalists based on the community votes, collected during the Voting Period, and the finalist that the EA Judges determine best demonstrate outstanding sportspersonship, including consistently supporting their teams, being an honorable opponent, and fair and generous behavior and treatment of others. Award will be announced during the ALGS Championship broadcast.
