Q: What is the Positive Player Award?
A: Introduced in 2023, The Positive Player Award recognizes esports competitors with a deep commitment to positive play, who consistently show outstanding sportspersonship toward opponents, and fans, and the league while playing in the Madden Championship Series (“MCS”).
Q: How is ‘outstanding sportspersonship’ defined?
A: Outstanding (adjective): consistently supporting the team, and being an honorable opponent.
Sportspersonship (noun): generous behavior or treatment of others.
Q: Who can be nominated?
A: Current MCS Competitors, 16 years and older can be nominated for the award.
Q: Who can nominate players?
A: Competitors and coaches of the MCS may nominate a MCS competitor who they feel shows outstanding sportspersonship toward opponents, the league, and fans, during the MCS season.
Q: How do nominations work?
A: Two step process:
Step 1: Nomination Submission:
Competitors and coaches participating in the MCS can nominate an eligible MCS competitor who they feel demonstrates the principles of the EA Positive Player Award of outstanding sportspersonship anytime from 12:00PM Pacific Time (PT) on September 9th to 11:59PM PT on December 18th.
Step 2: Final Nominees Decided:
Once nominations are received, a panel of inclusive play and esports representatives from MCS and Electronic Arts will select between three (3) and ten (10) finalists from the eligible nominations, based on the positive player award judging criteria set out in the Official Rules. At the close of nominations, we’ll post the finalists to this site on January 6th, 2025 and invite the community to vote on the Competitor they believe best exemplifies the Electronic Arts Positive Player Award principles.
Q: How does voting work?
A: On January 6th at 12:00PM PT, EA will post the finalists on http://ea.com/commitments/positive-play/positive-player-award/mcs at which time the community can vote on the finalist they feel best demonstrates the Electronic Arts Positive Player Award principles. Voting closes January 17th, 2025 at 11:59PM PT.
Q: Who can vote?
A: Voting will be open to the public from January 6th, 2025 at 12:00PM PT to January 17th, 2025 at 11:59PM PT. Limit one vote per person and per EA account.
Q: How is the winner determined?
A: Following the close of the Voting Period, the EA Judges will reconvene to re-evaluate the finalists taking into consideration the community votes, collected during the Voting Period, and the finalist that the EA Judges determine best demonstrate outstanding sportspersonship, including consistently supporting their teams, being an honorable opponent, and generous behavior and treatment of others. The award will be announced during the MCS Playoffs broadcast.
