Can you only invite someone to play Split Fiction on the same platform or is there cross-platform play?
Split Fiction and the Friend’s Pass support cross-platform play! For example, if you are playing on Xbox Series S|X, you can invite a friend playing on PC or PlayStation 5.
How do I invite someone for cross-platform play?
When inviting a friend to an online game, choose the EA Friends List option to access your in-game EA friends list. You can add a friend’s EA account to your EA Friends List from inside the game, and invite them for cross-play. To receive cross-play invitations, you must have Split Fiction running while signed in to an EA account within the game. If the EA Friends List option is not available, check that Cross-Play is enabled in the game’s Options menu (on PlayStation), or within your account’s privacy settings (on Xbox).
Is Friend’s Pass similar to the Friend’s Pass offered with It Takes Two?
Yes! The Friend’s Pass allows you to play with a friend for free. If either you or your friend owns the full game, you can play the entire game together.
Is the Friend's Pass a one time use code for one friend only or can the host invite new friends?
Anyone can download the Friend’s Pass for free on any platform. Players with the Friend’s Pass can only play the full game when in an online session with someone that has purchased the full game. If you have the full game, you can play Split Fiction with as many different friends as you want, one friend at a time.
Is Friend’s Pass available on all platforms?
The Friend’s Pass is available on all platforms where Split Fiction is available: PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
Is a Demo version available for Friend’s Pass players like in It Takes Two?
Yes! The Friend’s Pass can be used to play a demo of the first few levels in the game. The demo can be played in local couch co-op, or online between two players with the Friend’s Pass. Progress made while playing the demo will be carried over once the full game is purchased.
Do both players need first-party accounts to use Friend’s Pass?
Yes, online play requires an account for the platform you are playing the game on (eg. a Xbox Live account is required to play online on Xbox).
Do both players need EA accounts to use Friend’s Pass?
Yes, online play requires an EA account to be linked to your first-party platform account. If you’ve already created and linked an EA account for another EA game in the past, you will be signed in to your EA account automatically.
Can you play couch co-op offline?
An internet connection is not required to play local co-op. The game can be played offline using two controllers, or one controller and a keyboard and mouse (on PC only). Offline play does not require an EA account.
If I purchase the game after playing the Friend’s Pass, is my progress carried over?
Yes, all progress made on the Friend’s Pass is carried over to the full game.
What benefits does owning the full game have over playing through Friend’s Pass?
An internet connection is not required to play local co-op. When using the Friend’s Pass, you can only play the full game when in an online session with a friend that has purchased the full game. Achievements or Trophies can only be unlocked by players that have purchased the full game.
If I invite a different friend to play the game, are we forced to restart the game from the beginning?
The player that hosts the online session determines where to start playing from. When hosting, you can choose to start a new game, to continue the last save from your most recent play session, or to use the Chapter Select menu to start playing from any level you have previously reached. You can always continue from your most recent save, even if you are playing with a different friend than before.
