Before establishing himself as an all-time MMA great in the UFC, Anderson Silva cut his teeth everywhere from Shooto to… Meca World Vale Tudo. In 2003, PRIDE was Silva’s biggest stage to date, and at PRIDE 25: Body Blow, he made his biggest statement by KOing former UFC champ Carlos Newton.

In need of a bounceback after a loss to Randy Couture at UFC 43, Liddell would do so in thunderous fashion, making the journey to Saitama Super Arena to knock out the streaking Alistair Overeem in the first round at PRIDE Total Elimination 2003.

Mark Coleman would have to use all his tools to make it through three fights in one night at the PRIDE Grand Prix 2000 Finals. In the end, Akira Shoji, Kazuyuki Fujita, and Igor Vovchanchyn were all nails to “The Hammer” on his way to a historic tournament victory.

It was a battle of promotional all-stars when PRIDE’s Quinton “Rampage” Jackson faced off with UFC stalwart Chuck Liddell at PRIDE Final Conflict 2003. It would take Rampage just three minutes to put Liddell on ice, presaging their rematch for Liddell’s UFC strap four years later.
