Our Commitment to Positive Play
Our Commitment to Positive Play
At Electronic Arts, we believe in the power of positive play. To advance our mission to inspire the world to play, we strive to create experiences where all players feel welcome, safe and included. Our positive play efforts also advance our goal of building games and experiences that entertain massive online communities. To accomplish this goal, we are focusing on:
- Embedding player safety into our development processes and fostering respectful and inclusive communities,
- Promoting fair play so that everyone can compete in a level and secure environment,
- And, building inclusive and accessible experiences where all players can see themselves represented and participate.
Positive Play Charter
Our Positive Play Charter provides guidelines to empower players to help shape and grow our community. The Charter plus the Rules of Conduct in our User Agreement provide clear rules on what we do and do not expect from our community and what they can expect from us. These policies reflect our values, which are woven into everything we do.
Player and Parental Tools
We want to empower our players and parents to make informed choices about gameplay. We integrate and encourage them to use the robust platform controls that allow them to customize their and their child’s experience to meet their individual needs and expectations.
Moderation and Enforcement
Safety is a top priority for us and our players. As we provide more opportunities for players to connect and create in and around our games, we’ve prioritized our investment in teams and technology that minimize disruptive behavior in our games and experiences to maximize a positive experience for our growing online communities.
Transparency Reports
We design games and experiences with rich stories, and authentic characters and worlds. Some of these also give players the option to enhance their play with user-generated content (UGC). Transparency reports highlight the actions we take to proactively evaluate UGC and how we review and respond to player reports of disruptive UGC.
Anti-Cheat and Fair Play
EA anticheat, launched in 2023, is our flagship product to help prevent, identify, and address cheating activity. Since its launch, over 26 million PC players have enjoyed fair play in over two billion PC gaming sessions. EA anticheat has prevented over 32 million attempts to cheat in twelve protected games.
Inclusive Design
Whether you are there to play, create or connect, we can best harness the power of our communities when we create stories, worlds and characters that authentically represent our diverse player communities and when our games are accessible to all players.
To appeal to the widest possible audience, we’ve added features and functionality, including across our game menus, settings and controls, to help ensure players with disabilities can access and enjoy our games.
We’re also proud of our industry-leading accessibility patent pledge and commitment to open sourcing aimed at reducing unintended barriers to access by allowing every developer and publisher royalty-free use of our accessibility-centered technology.
