Following the attack on the Black Ridge facility, intel corroborates that key components of Operation Steadfast Refuge have been compromised. It is almost certain after the Shearwater Leak that the terrorist known as “Oz” was instrumental in coordinating this attack with the help of various Dark Market operatives. Furthermore, evidence suggests that the target is now in possession of top-secret technology which he intends to use as a weapon to weaken the US cause.

It is my strong opinion that we need to make any and all efforts to acquire the MFS – 04 Exodus’ assistance in our continuing pursuit of “Oz”. Several high-ranking crew members have until recently displayed close ties with the target, although a violent dispute over the Shearwater 1 satellite intel and the resulting outbreak of global war has fractured alliances. This is of key importance and where our interests can be aligned. It should also be noted that former Polish GROM soldier Ewelina Lis has been tracked to the Exodus. She has extensive knowledge of the Dark Market and could prove valuable in locating the operatives who took part in the Black Ridge attack. Provided herein is a profile of the potential Non-Patriated intelligence asset, as well as a transcript of an unpublished interview recovered from a journalist’s tablet that outlines her connection to several key targets.

II. LIS PROFILE

The daughter of wealthy parents, Ewelina experienced a privileged upbringing. She began attending the prestigious Nord Anglia boarding school in Warsaw at the age of 5 and placed in the top 10% throughout her primary education. Ewelina’s educational performance suffered during her teens leading to a strained relationship with her parents. It was documented at the time that this change was brought about by a desire from Ewelina to “step up” and help her country. Her parents were still able to secure Ewelina a place at Law School but on the eve of enrollment, and having just turned 18, she enlisted in the Polish Military. Desperate for their child to see sense, Ewelina’s parents severed all ties. But Ewelina could not be deterred. She proceeded with her military career in the hope that one day her family could forgive her.

By 2035, she was recruited into GROM, Poland's Elite special forces unit. She is currently Non-Patriated. Based on the transcript account below, Lis is confirmed present at the battle of Black Ridge.

III. THE TRANSCRIPT

NOTE: The following transcript was salvaged on December 1st, 2042 from an encrypted tablet, belonging to Keyvan Bechir of the Non-Patriated Signal Corps, the propaganda arm of the Non-Patriated Armed Coalition Forces. - N. Wolff

BEGIN TRANSCRIPT:

K. BECHIR: “So, tell me about what happened to you. The night of the Blackout.”

E. LIS: “We were on a covert operation near Wroclaw, tasked with shutting down a Dark Market base that was trafficking illegal weapons into Poland. The mission was supposed to be simple: infiltrate the site, detain or kill any resistance we might encounter, and destroy the illegal contraband.”

K. BECHIR: “And how did that mission go?”

E. LIS: “Save for a few bullet wounds, it was nearly a success. We had neutralized any opposition forces, set the explosive charges, and were preparing for the exfil when I heard this deep thrumming sound… And then the lights around the city went dark. Our helicopter lost control and it landed right on us. There was a huge explosion which ignited the charges we had set. I don’t remember anything more from there. But I would be the only survivor in my unit.” 

K. BECHIR: “I’m so sorry… There were many lives impacted that day.”

E. LIS: “It still angers me. I woke up months later from an induced coma, only to find myself in an ERF (European Recovery Foundation) camp where I saw that all our hard work, fighting for our nation, was for nothing. N. Wolff: Per your instructions, the ERF is under our surveillance for harboring Non-Patriated fugitives. I no longer had a country. My first thought was with everyone’s families.”

K. BECHIR: “Whose families?”

E. LIS: “Those of my unit. We were close.”

K. BECHIR: “Did you find them?”

E. LIS: “...those that I did… I still support to this day.”

K. BECHIR: “Incredible… Now, let's jump ahead for a second. How is it that you made your way to Black Ridge?”

E. LIS: “Not long after this, I met Angel. N. Wolff: Constantine Anghel. Major player in data trafficking. Attempts to establish working relationship have proved unfruitful. He had a small crew recovering and selling Data Drives. He asked me if I wanted to join. The money was good, and it helped me provide for those families.”

K. BECHIR: “So, would you describe yourself as a No-Pat at that point?”

E. LIS: “No, I was more of an Ex-Pat in my mind. It wasn’t until Goerlitz that things really changed for me.” N. Wolff: Still trying to ascertain Bechir’s sources on Goerlitz. Too much around this incident has leaked to the press. See Reference

K. BECHIR: “What changed?”

E. LIS: “We found the smoking gun. Operation Steadfast Refuge. It was being run by the Americans out of the Black Ridge base. They were responsible for the Blackout.

K. BECHIR: “How?”

E. LIS: “They had some kind of weapon in orbit and it malfunctioned.”

K. BECHIR: “You’re saying it was an accident?”

E. LIS: “Maybe. Maybe not. It didn’t change the fact this place needed to be destroyed.”

K. BECHIR: “That was your objective?”

E. LIS: “To make sure it could never happen again. We touched down about two clicks out from the facility, and already, it was madness. Bullets, rockets, hell from above. Between your boat, the Superpowers, and God-knows-who else, it was just out of control. But as soon as we got inside, you could tell something wasn’t right...”

K. BECHIR: “How so?”

E. LIS: “We weren’t the first ones in. Clearly, a unit had already been there. Torn through the place. They went straight for the server rooms. A place like that, there’s no telling what they got their hands on.”

K. BECHIR: “Who do you think it was?”

E. LIS: “Evidence points to the Dark Market. I’ve seen their work before. It was them.”

IV: SYNOPSIS

The rest of the data on the laptop is corrupted. But even so, there’s more than enough for us to justify the asset’s importance alongside the NPV Exodus. The target vessel is currently off the Canadian coast, so we have a small window of opportunity to make contact. To reiterate, it’s vital we use all means necessary to gain the Exodus’ cooperation as this is our best chance of locating “Oz” and securing the Shearwater technology that was stolen from Black Ridge.
