BillyEatWorld gives you an overview of the gadgets, explosives and melee weapons you can get your hands on in Battlefield™ V: Firestorm.
The first thing to keep in mind is that while other Battlefield™ V multiplayer modes have a Class system that determines what weapons and gadgets you can use, Firestorm does not. You can still choose a soldier from your Company with an associated Class, but all it will do is determine that soldier’s appearance in the Firestorm match. This means that during a match you can pick up and use any weapon or gadget you come across.
When you first put boots on the ground you’ll only be armed with a knife, so your first order of business is to find some loot – fast. What kind of gear is available? Basically, all of the explosives from the base game are available, as well as melee weapons and grenades. For example, you can potentially pick up a powerful Panzerfaust or Sticky Dynamite, which you should be pretty familiar with.
There are also Firestorm-only gadgets like Healing Syrettes, Armor Plates, Reinforcement flare guns, and more. You can learn about the Firestorm-specific gadgets and inventory system here. And this blog will help you understand how Reinforcements work in this mode.
Where should you look for gadgets? Landmarks with any sort of buildings or structures are a good place to start. You’ll often find Strongboxes and Safes in these locations, which will contain the rarer loot you’re looking for. The most powerful gadgets, though, are generally located at Resupply Points (marked as Objectives on your map and easy to spot visually because of the large barrage balloon floating over them). You’ll need to stand near them for several long seconds to capture them and claim all that sweet, sweet loot. Unfortunately, as they’re pretty easy to find you probably won’t be the only one headed that way, so be prepared.
Which gadgets are must-haves in Firestorm? First, try to get your hands on an anti-vehicle weapon. Why? Often in the later parts of a match you’ll encounter players who’ve managed to find a vehicle, if you want to have a chance of taking them out, you’re going to need the right tools for the job. Note: even with an effective anti-vehicle weapon (or several) it’s still a good idea to approach enemy vehicles cautiously. Flanking them and hitting them with explosives from the rear or sides is a much safer choice.
Grenades are an excellent choice both for damaging enemies directly and for flushing them out of buildings or from behind cover. Finally, a good melee weapon to help you take out late-game campers waiting to ambush other players quietly. The end of a match is not the time to open fire and give your position away if there are multiple enemies in the area.
