How to Squad Up with Friends in Battlefield V

Find out how to join a squad or start your own.

Poolshark demonstrates how to join a squad and what you need to do to start your own in this Battlefield™ V video.

If there’s one fundamental to doing well in Battlefield V it’s this: you’re better with your squad. Don’t have one yet? Not a problem, the game will assign you to a random one. Don’t like your assigned squad? Just return to the squad menu and click “Leave and Create New Squad.” You’ll then have the option to make that squad public (so anyone can join) or private (just for your friends).

Let’s say you want to squad up with your buddies; here’s how you do it. A friend can invite you to join their squad. You’ll see a pop-up (shown in the lower right-hand corner in this video) that you can either accept or reject. Want to invite a friend to join your squad? Click a plus sign at the bottom of the screen, then select the friend from the available options. They’ll receive a similar pop-up on their screen to accept or reject.

Once you’re in a squad, communication will be imperative if you want to be successful on the battlefield. You can use the in-game communication option for simple messages like “Affirmative” or “Negative,” calling for a Medic, calling for ammo, and more. If you don’t have a mic (or just prefer not to chat) this option should cover your basic needs. You can also use voice or text chat if you’d like, as both will give you a little more freedom to exchange information with your squad.
