On Friday, VfL Wolfsburg re-started the Bundesliga season with an emotional 4-1 win over league leaders Bayern Munich. The 23 year-old Kevin De Bruyne had two goals and an assist in the win. Although Bayern still sit atop the Bundesliga table, Wolfsburg are now a mere eight points behind in second place.

Even without suspended Cristiano Ronaldo, Real Madrid comfortably defeated Real Sociedad 4-1 on Saturday night to maintain their lead in La Liga. Karim Benzema had two second half goals, including an absolute stunner in the 76^th minute, in the victory.

Rounding out the weekend, Arsenal scored five goals on Sunday and easily defeated Aston Villa 5-0 in front of their home supporters. Five different players scored for the London-side, including Mesut Özil who also earned an assist in the win.
