EA SPORTS™ is delighted to announce its support of the Premier League Primary Stars programme.
Premier League Primary Stars provides free, flexible and easy to use curriculum-linked teaching resources for schools across England and Wales with the goal of inspiring children to learn, be active and to develop important life skills.
Through the use of EA SPORTS in-game motion capture technology, used in games such as FIFA and Madden NFL, the videogame company has been able to support the Premier League in creating real-time PE resources that demonstrate vital PE skills.
The aim of the videos is to demonstrate best practice for different movements, plus to identify key learning points for pupils and teachers. They are available for teachers signed up to the programme to access via the Premier League Primary Stars website.
Celebrating EA SPORTS’ involvement in Premier League Primary Stars, Burnley First Team Manager, Sean Dyche, and First Team Player, Jack Cork, visited Burnley St Peter’s Church of England Primary School to see the programme in action.
On viewing the teaching resources, Sean Dyche commented: "I know that FIFA is a hugely popular video game so it makes perfect sense to use it as vehicle to engage kids around PE. By demonstrating exercises using in-game FIFA characters, you’re talking to them in a language they understand. It’s a brilliant idea."
Beyond the teaching resources, EA SPORTS is providing a raft of incentives that will be integrated into the programme. These include Premier League Match Tickets, Premier League Referee Mascot Experiences and squad-signed shirts from each of the twenty clubs.
Account Director EA SPORTS FIFA Partnerships, Dan Holman commented, “We know that EA SPORTS FIFA 18 is synonymous with a modern family household, so we’re pleased that we can use the power of the video game to positively influence children’s in-school learning and help them develop vital PE skills. We believe the materials we’ve developed, along with the other assets and incentives we’ve integrated, will help teachers and pupils get even more out of what’s a truly fantastic programme."
Bill Bush, Executive Director of the Premier League, agreed: “These teaching resources are a world first from EA SPORTS. They are using innovatory technology to make PE exercises easy for children to understand and perform. Teachers can struggle to engage children when it comes to PE but the introduction of FIFA players provides a familiar and welcoming environment to learn about and enjoy physical activity. It has been really rewarding to work with our partner EA SPORTS to add real value to Premier League Primary Stars on an exciting project that will provide real benefits for pupils and teachers alike.”
