Juventus holds a five-point lead atop the Serie A table after a comfortable 4:0 victory over Sassuolo on Sunday. The star of the night was clearly Carlos Tévez, who scored a hat-trick in the process. The Argentinean joined the Turin side over the summer and has scored ten goals and racked up four assists in 16 appearances this season. Juventus looks poised to lift the league trophy for the third consecutive campaign.
Manchester City are by far the best goal-producing side in the Barclays Premier League. In 16 matches this season, the club has scored 47 goals, 35 of which during home games at Eithad Stadium. On Saturday, City trounced Arsenal in a 6:3 victory to reduce the London-side’s lead in the standings. Fernandinho scored twice, the Brazilian’s first two goals for the club since joining over the summer.
In their first season back in the top flight of French football, AS Monaco continue to keep pressure on league-leaders PSG. On Saturday, they defeated Guingamp 0:2 to stay within two points of the summit. ColombianJames Rodríguez earned assists on both goals and his fine play was a key piece in the victory. Rodriguez has a league-best seven assists in 16 appearances this season.
