With the season in full swing, let’s talk about training and player development. The training system will allow your players to gain sharpness and morale for the upcoming games, so you will want to play the training drills to get the highest rating you can. Gaining extra sharpness for the games come at the cost of fitness, so be sure to rotate your players through this system to get the best out of your squad on match day.
Development plans can be set for each player in your squad hub. Here you can look to increase some key stats that might be lacking. Need a bit of extra pace or want to work on improving a player’s weak foot? You can do this all with the player development plans. If you leave them on balanced it will improve the players overall stats, but by really focusing in on certain areas, it’s possible to push a player to higher overalls in a very quick time—provided they have the potential to do so. This is also available in your Youth Academy, so make sure you have these setup to get the most out of your squad.
The other option you have in your development plan is to train players in a different position. Perhaps you have noticed your RB has incredible pace already and with a little attacking prowess could become a world-class winger for your squad. Switch their position development to winger and it will let you know how long it’s going to take to transition to this new position. They don't lose the ability to play RB but will now also be able to play as a winger, becoming a real utility player in your squad.
Veteran players can also benefit from the development plans to try and slow down their decline. As a player reaches that 30+ age bracket their stats will start to decline. But with a development plan training some of those stats, you can reduce the decline and enable them to play a lot longer.
Development and training, if managed well, can really take your squad to another level. Spend the time getting to know these aspects of the game—it’s well worth your time.
