One of the greatest aspects of Career Mode is utilising the Youth Academy system. Here you can send scouts out all over the world to try to find that next young superstar. These scouts will bring back youth generated talent for you to look at possibly signing to your youth academy program. It works much in the same way as the Global Transfer Network but looks to bring you back youth in the 15-17 year old age bracket.
There’s nothing more rewarding than bringing those youth players through the system over multiple seasons and having them grow to super high potentials. They are your unique players that no one else will have in their Career Mode saves anywhere in the world!
The scouts work the same way with star rating values—Use your club’s budget on 5 Star Youth Scouts and you will certainly start getting some superstar talent coming into your youth academy. Select your scout and set up their scouting network. Here you will have many options to try to find that youth prospect. Firstly select the country you want to scout from the world map. Look for more home grown talent or make it a more global search, there are plenty of countries to choose from. Keep in mind scouting (including duration of the assignment) eats into your budget so some of the smaller nations might be worth your time. Now decide the type of player you want to scout for. Need a new Centre back? Try searching for Physically Strong or Defensively Minded. Once you've made your choices, send the scouts on their way, you will receive a youth scout report on the same day every month for the duration of the assignment.
Once you receive the Youth Scout Report, it's time to see if your scout has brought you back any talent worth adding to the academy. Depending on the scout’s skill set, you will gain more information as the reports go by. These reports will give you a possible Overall and Potential, plus some attribute info and possible positions. If you see something you like, sign them into the Youth Academy. Make sure you have enough available budget to bring them in. Once signed, navigate to the Squad Tab in the menus and find your Youth Academy. Here you will get the full data on the player you just brought in. You can let them grow here in the academy. Or, if you want to loan them out, you will need to promote them to the senior team. And if, after a few months they aren't what you are looking for, they can also be released.
