Let's talk about transfers! Once you have checked out your squad and identified improvements for the upcoming season, it's time to bring in that all important new signing to bolster your team for the upcoming campaign. Check your team’s budget, season objectives, and use the Global Scouting Network to find that next superstar to bring into your club.
Once you have found a player, you will need to shortlist them in the transfer hub. From here you’ll need to decide whether to bring the player into the club via loan and whether you want to delegate the negotiations.
Choosing ‘Delegate’ lets your managerial team look after the deal. You’ll select the initial offer terms and the game will take care of the rest. After a few days, you will be prompted if the offer was accepted.
Choosing the ‘Approach to Buy’ option will take you into a full negotiation with the player, giving you greater control of the proposed deal (and some nice cutscenes as well!). The first step here is to choose what you want to offer for the transfer. It could be a straight fee, add one of your existing squad players to cheapen the deal, or even add a sell-on clause to sweeten the transaction. Make your choices and submit the offer.
With the transfer fee accepted by the club it's time to negotiate with the player. Once again you can choose to delegate or negotiate the contract yourself. In these negotiations, you will need to offer their squad role, keeping in mind the calibre of player you are bringing in. A crucial role will see them wanting to start nearly every game whereas a prospect might be an upcoming young talent looking to get a few minutes throughout the season. This is important, so don't just offer crucial squad roles to everyone or it may affect team morale in the future. Contract length, release clauses, wages, and signing bonuses all come into play on whether this player is willing to sign with your club, too.
With the signing complete, the Transfer Analyst will provide a rating of your transfer. This will let you know how well you did on the transfer. The finance tip will let you know how it went and give you a player comparison to existing team members, showing where they might be best suited in your current formation.
