Three clubs are still tied atop the league table in Spain as Atlético de Madrid, FC Barcelona and Real Madrid all won their matches over the weekend. FCB had the largest margin of victory, defeating lowly Rayo Vallecano 6:0 in front of over 74,000 fans at the Camp Nou. In the match, Lionel Messi scored twice and earned an assist, while teammate Cesc Fàbregas helped set-up two goals himself. In 17 league matches this season, Messi now has 13 goals and eight assists. As for Fàbregas, he leads all players in Spain with 12 assists, three more than the next best total.
Meanwhile in Germany, Borussia Dortmund’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scored twice for the club in their 4:0 victory over Eintracht Frankfurt on Saturday. In only his first season with the club, Aubameyang continues to impress fans, having scored 13 goals in 20 league matches. The win, coupled with a loss for second-place Bayer Leverkusen (1:2 loss at home to Schalke 04), leaves Dortmund only one point back in third place.
