All you need to know about the EA Champions Cup Winter 2018
Learn more about Asia’s EA Champions Cup in FIFA Online 4, including schedule, prizes, and how to watch from around the world.
The EA Champions Cup (EACC) Winter 2018 is upon us as the top EA SPORTS FIFA Online 4 competitors have gathered in Korea from November 10 to the 17 to compete for cash prizes, and a a chance to prove that they're the best in the world on FIFA Online 4.
FIFA Online 4 is a free online multiplayer football game for PC developed by EA Spearhead Studio but distributed and published by various companies in multiple regions throughout Asia. It was originally released in 2012 and has become a massive hit all over the continent.
The EACC has been around since 2014, originally called F03 Spearhead Invitational before being re-named in 2016. There are currently two EACC tournaments per year, one in the spring and one in the winter. More importantly, the top eight FO4 competitors after both the Winter and Spring EA Champions Cups will earn a berth to the FIFA 19 Global Series Playoffs.
The EA Champions Cup is an inter-Asian tournament in which each country involved is allowed to send three-person teams to compete. However, even though the EACC is a team-based competition, the match format remains 1v1.
While competitors trained and won their competition in FIFA Online 4, the qualified players of the EACC will be more than ready to take on the best in FIFA 19 at the FIFA 19 Global Series Playoffs later next year. “I believe their virtual football talents still can take them far since there always are similarities between football games: understanding for the game, timing, and defensive anticipation,” said FIFA 19 pro player Ivan “Boras Legend” Lapanje.
