Weekend League - Tips and Tricks
FIFA 21 Ultimate Team
The Weekend League is the pinnacle of competition in FIFA Ultimate Team, giving you the chance to match up against the best players in the game from all over the world for a shot at the best rewards FUT has to offer.
Here are some tips to help you turn losses into wins and earn even better rewards next time you play in the Weekend League.
Mix up your squad
Don’t be afraid to freshen up your squad by adding some new talent. Search for new players to improve your team using the Transfer Market, or complete Squad Building Challenges and Objectives that offer upgraded versions of players as rewards.
Then, take your new squad into FUT Friendlies or Division Rivals to help you find the right players for your style of play before playing matches in the Weekend League.
Make use of Dynamic Tactics
Dynamic Tactics in FIFA 21 let you dramatically transform your team’s playing style throughout the course of a game. Whether you’re possession-hungry, all about that counter attack, or want to stretch the play by getting your wingers to stay wide, FIFA 21 lets you set up your own tactics to match your playing style.
In FIFA 21 you can set up to five play styles and formations that can be assigned as your Ultra Defensive, Defensive, Balanced, Attacking, and Ultra Attacking tactics, and you can then switch between these in-game using the left and right buttons on the D-Pad. You can even change aspects of your play on the fly like asking strikers to drop back to help the defence, or pushing your full backs higher up the pitch using the D-Pad.
If you’re losing a game in the Weekend League, don’t be afraid to switch things up with different formations and tactics that might unlock your opponent’s defence and turn the game around.
Brush up on new Gameplay Features
With new ways to get creative on and off the ball in FIFA 21, spend some time brushing up on the new additions in FIFA 21 before your next Weekend League entry.
Some key new features that will help your attacking play:
- Agile Dribbling (hold R1/RB while moving the left stick) gives you better close control over your players while dribbling, giving your players faster footwork and making them more responsive to help you go past defenders and create scoring opportunities.
- Creative Runs also give you more ways to break down defences, with more control over your build up play. Lock to a single player (press in both sticks (L3/LSB+R3/RSB) at the same), direct your AI team mates’ runs (L1/LB then flick Right Stick), and more to help you get into scoring positions.

Warm up
Just as footballers don’t start games without a warm up, make sure you begin any session of FUT Champions by playing a few games of Division Rivals or FUT Friendlies to get you back in the swing of things before you head into the competition.
Split your games
The Weekend League consists of 30 games played between Friday and Sunday. Make sure to space out your games and use all three days of the competition to give yourself the best chance of success.
Watch the best of the best
See how the best players in the world set up their teams and compete in the Weekend League. Head into the Champions Channel from within the FUT in-game menu to see replays of matches between some of the highest-ranking players in FUT Champions, learn from how they defend and attack, and even see the exact buttons they’re using throughout the game. You can also watch the world’s best FIFA 21 players face off and get tips during FIFA 21 Global Series events throughout the year.
