The two Brazilians qualified for the FC Pro Open Finals on Monday night, with Young potentially facing Vejrgang next.

On a dramatic Monday evening of FC Pro Open action, Young qualified for the Finals by the barest of margins, finishing second in Group B on goals scored alone.

Amid the Brazilian's relief at qualifying at the end of his Round 10 game against Bonanno, was his realisation that he'd be going to next month's Finals with his best friend and countryman, PHzin, who had won the group.

Embracing after their last matches of the night, the burgeoning friendship was clear for all to see. And yet, you might be surprised to discover that the stars of Brazilian Esports didn't always get on so well.

Young said: "Im so so happy to go to the Finals with him [PHzin], It's funny that like, two years ago, I hated this guy!

"And now he's one of my best friends for life. I'm very happy to qualify with him to the knockouts. We hope to go to the World [Championships] now."

Reaching the Semi-finals of the FC Pro Open would secure Young automatic qualification to this year's FC Pro World Championships - having missed out on the competition last year.

If he does make it, the Tuzzy Esports star certainly will have earned his place, having fought so hard in Group B to finish inside the top two.

He got off to the perfect start on Monday, securing a 6-1 win over rival Happy which settled his pre-game nerves.

FC Pro Open Match Day 2 - Young

"I was very nervous in the beginning of the [first] game, I wasted a lot of timing shots as well," Young said after the tie.

"And then, when the first goal came, I think I just relaxed a bit."

However, a draw and defeat in his next two matches meant he went into his Round 10 clash against Bonanno needing to win to qualify for the Finals.

It was a dramatic game, with Young heading into the final few minutes knowing another goal for Bonanno would see FacuCowen qualify ahead of him.

Describing how he felt in those final moments, the Brazilian said: "I was remembering the Happy game in Round 1. I was winning by two goals, then I conceded in [minute] 86 and 89. So [in Round 10] when I lost the ball in the 91st minute, I said 'please God no'.

"And then I just tried my best to defend. I was not playing it, I was feeling like God was playing for me in the last minute, because I was so scared.

"But in the end, I could defend and I won the game."
