FC Pro Open - Match Week 6 Round-Up
Match Week 6 provided the most dramatic action yet in the FC Pro Open, as four players went into the final round with a chance of reaching the Finals.
January 15

The most dramatic night of the FC Pro Open so far ended with a double Brazilian triumph, as PHzin and Young qualified for the Finals by the narrowest of margins.

Match Week 6 saw Group B get back underway, with Bonanno, FacuCowen and Happy joining the Brazilian duo in London.

Heading into Monday night's fixtures, PHzin had led the way comfortably at the halfway point, winning three of his four games in Match Week 2.

While Bonanno remained pointless, Young, FacuCowen and Happy all still had a realistic chance of finishing in the top two in the table - and reaching the inaugural FC Pro Open Finals. Here's how the night unfolded.

Round 6

The opening round of the evening saw two hopefuls in Happy and Young face off.

Level on points before their match, it was expected to be a tight and tense affair, but Young hadn't read the script - as he routed his Tuzzy E-sports teammate 6-1. "I was very nervous in the beginning," Young said after the game.

"And when the first goal came, I think I just relaxed a little bit."

Round 1's other game was an all-Argentine affair, as FacuCowen and Bonanno attempted to keep their feint hopes of qualifying alive - sitting in 4th and 5th in Group B at the start of play.

A remarkable late comeback, in which he scored twice in the final five minutes, saw FacuCowen close out a 4-3 win - and earn a vital three points.

Round 7

Yet more late drama would unfold in the seventh round, as two draws kept the group delicately poised heading into the halfway point of Match Week 6.

Happy and FacuCowen draw 2-2 to remain in the hunt for the Finals, while Young scored an 86th-minute equaliser to earn a point against his international teammate PHzin.

"Young is one of the greatest players," PHzin said of his good friend in the aftermath.

Round 8

PHzin had looked like one of the favourites to win the FC Pro Open title after his remarkable start in Group B, but Round 8 would change all of that.

A shock 4-0 defeat to FacuCowen suddenly meant the Ajax star was vulnerable, and his place in the Finals was no longer secure.

Indeed, a 6-5 win for Happy at the same time meant that, quite remarkably, four players headed into Round 9 on 11 points each, with just Bonnano yet to get off the mark.

Round 9

The penultimate Round of the evening saw FacuCowen play his final game in Group B, knowing only a win against Young would do.

The Argentine once again rallied after going 2-1 down early on, scoring twice in the second half to win 3-2 - and close out his FC Pro Open campaign in style. Having done all he could to qualify, he'd now have to rely on other results to advance to the Finals.

Meanwhile, PHzin took a huge step towards topping the group by beating a spirited Bonanno 6-5.

Round 10 Goes to the Wire

Heading into the final games of the evening, PHzin, Young, FacuCowen and Happy all had a chance of advancing, although the odds heavily favoured the Brazilians.

After 30 in-game minutes, all was going to plan for the group leaders, as PHzin led Happy 2-1, while Young was 3-1 up against Bonanno.

While PHzin managed to maintain his lead and qualify, Young had to endure a nerve-shredding ending to his match.

With just minutes left to play, Bonanno scored to cut his deficit to 6-3, meaning one more goal for the Man City star would eliminate Young - and send his countryman FacuCowen to the Finals.

And yet, despite his best efforts, Bonanno couldn't find another goal, meaning Young qualified by the skin of his teeth.

PHzin and Young Make the Finals

PHzin winning Group B sets up a clash with the Group C runner-up, while Young will face the winner of Group C - which would be Vejrgang as things stand.
